Basically Dwa plus Jeden were never meant to be a rock band. It's rather a folk music, and in case of their debut album, even rock arrangements were used only on part of the tracks. At the same time, players' musicianship is above any praise here, while fine melodies created with help from a famous Polish pop writer Katarzyna Gaertner, made the album a solid dose of smooth listening that easily made its way to the people.[/quote] And one final note. Even if you are not much into folk-rock style (I'm one of those myself), don't dismiss this band so easily. Yes, most of it IS based in folk-rock, and after the first four albums they started recording mostly pop oriented stuff with folkish elements only. I won't go into that period of their career. However the first four albums are really worth some attention. They are quite different from each other and each of them has its interesting points: - the first is mostly folk, but full of very nice melodies and excellent play; - the second is more "rockish" with interesting melodies and orchestration; - the third is VERY DIFFERENT, as it is one of the finest prog-rock or prog-folk albums made in Poland at that time; - the fourth is back to more basic, folk-rock style, but has another surprise which many of you might be interested to hear.
