This album presents a series of recordings made by the polish traditional Jazz ensemble Warsaw Stompers (earlier called New Orleans Stompers), which was one of the first and certainly the best of its kind. Led by the excellent trumpeter Henryk Majewski and drummer Mieczyslaw Wadecki the ensemble changed the membership over the years and included in its ranks some of the best future Polish Jazz musicians like saxophonist Zbigniew Namyslowski and keyboardist Wlodzimierz Gulgowski. The traditionalists vs. modernist Jazz War raged in Poland in the 1950s similarly to what happened all over Europe at the time with the New Orleans revival emerging as a counterforce of the new Bebop and beyond. However, beyond the heated discussions running into the wee hours of the night between the opponents, Jazz as music coexisted peacefully, resulting in outstanding results in both fields. The Warsaw Stompers played an all original programme, which is quite remarkable for the time, again emphasizing the deep involvement of the Polish scene with the Jazz tradition, which started even before the WWII. The level of the compositions as well as the performance is truly stellar and anybody who loves traditional Jazz should be able to enjoy this music to the fullest. Warszawski zespół jazzu tradycyjnego utworzony pod nazwą New Orleans Stompers w listopadzie 1957 r. przez Mieczysława Wadeckiego – dr., lider, z Wiesławem Ejssymontem – tr., Wojciechem Kacperskim – pf., Jerzym Kowalskim – tbn., Bogusławem Rudzińskim – cl. W lutym 1958 r. do zespołu dołączyli Bogdan Ignatowski – bjo, i Eugeniusz Koniarz – cb. Zadebiutował w lutym 1958 r. na Ogólnopolskim Konkursie Amatorskich Zespołów Jazzowych i Tanecznych w Warszawie. W tym samym roku w marcu wystąpił na czwartym w historii powojennego jazzu koncercie w Filharmonii Narodowej, a w czerwcu w eksperymentalnym programie Telewizji Warszawskiej. We wrześniu 1958 r. uczestniczył w I Międzynarodowym Festiwalu Jazzowym Jazz Jamboree w Warszawie. Na festiwalu tym występował później rokrocznie do 1964 r.

W 1961 r. stał się zespołem profesjonalnym. Na pierwsze zagraniczne koncerty wyjechał w 1962 r. do Szwecji, koncertował także w Finlandii, NRD, RFN, Belgii i ZSRR. W latach 1965–1966 odbył tournée po USA i Kanadzie. Dokonał archiwalnych nagrań dla Polskiego Radia i płytowych, w tym m.in. na pierwszy w serii Polish Jazz LP Warsaw Stompers. Akompaniował na estradzie i w nagraniach m.in. Filipinkom, Jeanne Johnstone, Maciejowi Kossowskiemu, Halinie Kunickiej, Danucie Rinn i Markowi Tarnowskiemu.
