Bernhard Crusell (15 October 1775 – 28 July 1838). Born in Uusikaupunki (Swedish name Nystad), in Swedish ruled Finland. He learned the clarinet as a child and then went on to study in Stockholm with Abbé Vogler, Franz Tausch in Berlin and composition with Henri-Montan Berton and François-Joseph Gossec in Paris. He worked for many years as an orchestral clarinetist and earned great international fame. He composed mostly for this instrument producing 3 Concertos as well as other orchestral and chamber music that featured the clarinet. --- musicweb-international.com
